with only 'hands clean' standing out from the crowd here, its a bit more chaff than wheat.shame when alanis has one of the most unusual and diverse voices around that she chooses to waste it on not very good songs.
i can only hope that she can release an album that is not so quirky (supposed former....) and not so completely overplayed and over-commercialised (jagged...).
some tracy chapman esque stuff wouldnt go amiss, and some more witty wordplay, but please please keep going.
as average as this album is,it still shows talent and promise that most of the current music scene lacks.
buy this album if you are looking for something to laugh, cry and wonder at.dont buy it if you like 'em simple

why buy this album???
i had never heard of this band until a promo day back at my local rock nightspot where i first got the album.ideal grunge stuff with a bit more style.'keeps me down' and 'what you give' have to be the stand out tracks, but the whole album is strong and reeks of the times of dirty guitar solos and speaker bashing but thumbs its nose at it and stands there in designer gear with rips in.
dont know if these guys have done anymore albums, but if you want some flashback music for those heady days of therapys 'troublegum',headswim 'crawl' or even a little de-techno'd stabbing westward.some soaring vocals really take the album to a peak some grunge-ites couldn t reach but done without the superiority complex that may imply.
try it if you can still listen to grunge era stuff and feel a bit dewy eyed that its time has gone.
some lessons for the current scene could be learned here.
