Yamaha flutes
This flute is the American version on the European 411 and has all the same advantages. The only difference is that it does not have the 'Split E' system that the 411 has. The split E means that when the top E is played an extra key stays down on its own which helps very slightly with the tuning and playing of the note. Experienced players may not notice any difference.
It is also worth noting that the Yamaha 211, 311, 411, 511, 611 etc are all part of the same family and all have the split E whereas the 221, 321, 421, 521, 621 etc do not.
Yamaha have the same family system on 281, 381, 481, 581, 681 etc where they all have open-holes and inline G. The inline G means that all the keys are in one line when you look down the flute. The offset G means that the keys on either side of the G sharp arm stick out. This is to help players with smaller hands or shorter fingers to reach their left hand around the outside of the flute. This is especially important on open-holes as you need to comfortably cover the holes without stretching.
