    So what's up with the word LAGOM? Why do we consider ourselves to be LAGOM? And what's the English translation of this word?

    Well, there is no direct translation of the word LAGOM into English. So we will try to explain it instead.


    The word LAGOM is actually two words. LAG (team) OM (around/about) and could almost be translated into Optimal. But at the same time not.
    We would rather use the word Optimal when we talk about fuel consumption.
    It's more like Moderate. But we already have Swedish words for that. They are Moderat, Måttfull and Måttlig.

    So where does LAGOM come from?
    The word is said to have come from the time when we were farmers. Back in the days when everyone in Sweden was eating out of the same bowl.
    Then it was necessary for everyone to eat LAGOM so the food would be enough for the whole group.

    You can say that the word LAGOM means not too little and not too much. Almost like perfect!
