Please note that the items that I sell are vintage/second-hand or antique as the case may be.
They may have flaws/damage and are not in 'new' or 'mint' condition unless the description specifically states this.
Additionally, the item for sale is not a precious metal (gold, silver, platinum, titanium etc), or precious/semi-precious stone or gem, again unless the description specifically states this.
Vintage or antique garments may benefit from specialist or dry cleaning and buyers should expect real furs to have a natural and sometimes, earthy, aroma.
Vintage scarves/gloves/clothing/accessories may have ‘runs', ‘pulls' or loose stitching to seams - the result of wear which is to be expected in a vintage/second hand item. Vintage garments/clothing sold on this site have not been cleaned, repaired or altered by us and are sold as items that have been worn and used unless specifically described as unworn.
I will use my best endeavours to process and dispatch (but not deliver)your order but cannot be responsible for circumstances outside our control which may result in the delay or cancellation of your order.
Due to the nature of the products that I sell I cannot guarantee the specific date or age of any item and all dates/ages are approximate and for guidance only.
Postage/Shipping
I only post/ship items via recorded delivery/signed for mail according to the value and weight of the item. Heavy or valuable items are sent via Royal Mail Parcels or Royal Mail Special Delivery with appropriate levels of compensation for loss/damage applicable to the value of the item.
Fine or more expensive costume jewellery is only sent via Royal Mail Special Delivery in order to ensure adequate compensation for loss/damage.
Please note that I cannot guarantee Royal Mail delivery times which are beyond my control. However, Royal Mail advise that First Class Recorded Delivery/Signed For takes between one and three days. When we dispatch an item via Royal Mail Special Delivery this should arrive the next day but the acutual time of delivery is not specified.
Overseas orders will be advised of the appropriate method of shipping.
Any customs or tax liability for any products bought and sent overseas are the responsibility of the customer and we would advise all customers to check with the appropriate authority prior to purchase.
Unfortunately, if you are unable to accept delivery of the item and it is returned to us I will have to charge for re-delivery.
Free Shipping Offers
Free shipping offers apply to UK mainland only and NOT overseas shipping. Overseas shipping will incur a shipping charge which will be invoiced separately after receipt of your order.
I reserve the right to use whatever shipping/postage method we choose for any products which are offered under our free shipping offer which may be standard Royal Mail postage and not recorded or special delivery. Therefore if time is of the essence we recommed that you contact us and we can quote you for special delivery.
Free shipping offer only applies to single or multiple sales of items shipped to one address. Shipping to more than one address will incur shipping/postage charges at our standard rates.
A shipping/delivery charge will be made where an item is returned to me for a refund that was sent under our free shipping offer.
Payment
Please note that an order is only placed and accepted by us when I have received your confirmed payment in full, including shipping where appropriate. No products are held or reserved for you until receipt of full payment including shipping charges where applicable.
All items are dispatched within 2 working days of cleared payment, 'working days' excludes Saturdays, Sundays and UK Bank Holidays.
RETURNS
Returns are accepted (excluding auction sales) in accordance with your statutory rights and under the Distance Selling Regulations customers in the EU have seven working days (starting with the day after receipt of the goods) to cancel their purchase (unless it is a purchase of unwanted pierced products, earrings, hosiery, or tailor-made / customised products and cosmetic products which in the interests of hygiene are NOT returnable) by giving us notice in writing. In this instance, we will provide a full refund within 30 days via the original method of payment but you must return the cancelled items to us. If we do not receive the cancelled items back, we may arrange to collect them from you at your cost.
Any items that are returned to us will need to have a return code from us and must be sent via a tracked/delivery confirmation postage/shipping method with an appropriate level of compensation/insurance for loss, damage or non-delivery.
Penelope's Vintage Labels cannot be held responsible for any items or products damaged or lost in transit. All items or products returned to us are at your own risk.
Items returned to us must be in their original, unworn and unused condition and in the original undamaged box/packaging as dispatched to you. All items MUST be returned with the original security tag in place. Any items returned with damaged/replaced/cut or tampered with security tags will be deemed to have been worn and used and no refund will be issued.
Upon receipt of the returned goods by us in their original condition we will refund the purchase price paid by you using your original method of payment within 30 days of receipt of the goods, excluding the cost of postage/delivery (i.e. the original cost of postage/shipping paid by you AND the cost incurred by you in returning the item/s to us) which is not refundable.
Earrings, pierced items and cosmetics/perfume are EXCLUDED from the return policy.
Please note that the Returns Policy only applies to EU customers and specifically excludes customers outside the EU.
Any items sent under a free shipping/free delivery offer will incur a charge where that item is subsequently returned to us for a refund of the purchase price.
Stock Availability/Product Information
We endeavour to display and describe our products as accurately as possible but for technical reasons cannot guarantee that the colours on your pc's monitor display accurately reflect the actual product's colours. Additionally, photographs are not actual size or products - please refer to size descriptions of individual products.
All measurements and sizes are approximate.
Whilst we take care to ensure that the product description and details are correct at the time of entry onto our website system we reserve the right to refuse orders where the product is no longer available or has been mis-published.
We reserve the right to change prices without notice and to withdraw products at any time. All products are subject to availability and because the unique vintage/antique nature of most of our products it may not be possible to restock an out of stock or unavailable item.
We reserve the right to refuse orders for reasons of non-authorisation of customer's payment method and we reserve the right to reject any offer to purchase by you at any time and cannot be responsible for any loss suffered by you as a consequence thereof.
Any registered trademarks/brand names/logos referred to on this site are the property of their respective legal owners and are used here for identification purposes only. The use of such trademarks/brand names/logos is not intended to infer mutual endorsement between the legal owners of the same and Penelope's Vintage Labels.
Your Personal Information and Details
In order to provide you with a an excellent customer experience we will ask you for your name, home address, telephone number and email address for newsletter sign ups. Additionally when you make a purchase on our site, we also ask for delivery address, credit or debit card billing address and payment method details. So that we may continue to improve our web site we may obtain information about your usage of our Web site. All credit/debit cardholders are subject to validation checks and authorisation by the card issuer. If the issuer of your payment card refuses to, or does not for any reason, authorise payment then you will be notified of this.
In assessing your request for goods or services, we may use your information for the purposes of the prevention and detection of fraud. One of the purposes for which we may disclose your address and postcode details is to check against the IMRG Security Alert or any other Fraud Prevention Scheme. At all times where we disclose your information it will remain secure.
What the data will be used for?
We will use your data to enable us to fulfil your order, process your payment and to notify you about important changes.
In order to enhance your customer experience we will from time to time send you email newsletters telling you about our products, promotions and special offers. If you do not wish to receive email newsletters simply unsubscribe from the email at any time or send an email to us at portmanteau@btinternet.com.
In order to ensure that your personal information is processed lawfully and kept secure we comply with the procedures and requirements as set out in the UK Data Protection Act.
We never sell/share your personal details with third parties for marketing purposes.
