Very cute book, and not just because I'm partial to poodles! The illustrations are charming and the story is simple and well-told., This book was a very sweet retelling of a classic children's story, replacing animals with people. . . .the perfect length for a bedtime read., I will probably look to add it because I like to have multiple versions of fables and fairy tales for my students to compare. . . .Great illustrations., Very cute! . . .a good summary for young readers, especially those just starting to read independently., Kj liked the pictures of the poodles. This story had her when it featured dogs. The only things better would have been horses. She loved how the princess had to climb a ladder to get in her bed and when she woke up she was sooooo tired. When I was done reading her the story she wanted to hear more. Over all it was a winner with her., ...a hilarious retelling of the classic story "The Princess and the Pea" and is done in such an adorable way that readers of any age will find the story a new favorite. The pictures - of fancy poodles in appropriate royal attire - are precious, and the story is simplified making this a perfect book for beginning readers., ...a short and easy to read book for early readers. The Piwis thought it was pretty funny especially the Prince Poodle., This book is exactly what you would expect from the title - a canine version of the classic fairytale The Princess and the Pea. Young readers will first be introduced to the characters in the upcoming book, which gives the work a "live play" feel and further adds to the theatrical magic of the tale., The idea of remaking this story by using poodles as characters is cute. As an educator, I could easily see this being used in a classroom setting as part of a fairy tale reading unit., I am a big fan of fractured fairy tales and always did a unit on them with my 3rd graders, so I am always interested in new versions. This version, though, is too simple with nothing changed from the original fairy tale other than the main characters are dogs.
