The front display on the unit is a fluorescent display with multicolor illumination color, and it has cool backlighting for the controls that allow you to adjust the colors to match your car’s dashboard lighting. It’s great to have access to hook up accessories, but the real strength to this receiver is in its versatility. Accessories like a Bluetooth adapter are available to listen to electronics that are Bluetooth-enabled. Use the USB input to play music from your favorite high-definition radio solutions, such as SiriusXM, Pandora Internet radio, iHeart Radio, or other similar applications. Experience a boost in audio quality, including bass strength and general amplification, from the Kenwood KDC-255U CD receiver. The Kenwood car audio solution has a bass boost mode as well as controls for balance, fader, loudness, subwoofer level, and volume. It is a built-in car stereo, however, the faceplate is detachable, which makes it more secure to have in your vehicle as it does not look like there is a stereo inside. With the multiple input options, you can listen to all kinds of different sound, whether you are in the mood to listen to Pandora Internet radio or use the USB to use your MP3 device to listen to your desired audio. The device itself does not have Bluetooth, but it is compatible with Kenwood’s Bluetooth adapter. Without the Bluetooth adapter, you can still listen to wireless audio by using the remote control when your accessories are plugged in via USB input. As compared to Pioneer audio units that only have a two-band equalizer, the Kenwood units have three-band EQ and provide clear and crisp sound. You won’t need to use noise-cancelling headphones or load up on additional electronics accessories, as the Kenwood KDC-255U CD receiver sounds great on your existing car audio speakers. Out of the box, the unit comes with the AM/FM/CD receiver with 10-amp fuse, faceplate, wireless remote control and batteries, and a black cloth faceplate carrying pouch. The audio will be great on your existing speakers with the audio features, such as System Q Sound control, low-pass filter, and sub-level controls. Additional accessories are available for purchase, such as Kenwood’s Bluetooth adapter, HD Radio tuner, satellite radio, additional USB and auxiliary front-panel inputs, and four-channel preamp outputs for front, rear, or sub. Kenwood’s KDC-255U is a great receiver to purchase if you don’t want to have to upgrade your existing factory speakers to get great audio in your car.
