  The DVD player was new. It was a good quality for the price. It was packed very nicely to avoid damage. Its appearance was like brand new with no scratches or damage still in its original box. It played great after we got it hooked up. The reason we bought it was because we bought Zorro DVD's from the UK and they wouldn't play on our regular DVD player. We had to have a region DVD player.
