Mid-Century Modern era decor and the still useful things of that era are my favorite niche! I've been a picker and a collector from the age of 12, learning from the most awesome grandfather that was a picker himself. Gramps was a WWI tank mechanic, and a survivor of the Great Depression. He never passed up cast-offs or "tired" items and he taught me the tricks of the trade in cleaning them up, fixing them up, and reselling them. We found I had his great eye for a find, and for seeing the potential in older items that others considered "junk". Once a picker, always a picker! I furnished 4 homes over my hunting career with my finds. Now I'm settling into my age and downsizing my collections, but I still actively pick to add more fun finds to the mix. I'm drawn to Mid-Century Era items, but if it is old, unique, still has life left in it, or it just too good to be tossed, there's a good chance it will make it into my store.
This guy has the most fabulous attitude; I had to have him. The seller and I were both worried about how to pack him safely enough that he'd survive shipping. But what a master class in packing she executed! Double-boxing is the gold standard for fragile pieces, and it worked flawlessly here. Along with a raft of little packing touches that addressed his vulnerabilities perfectly. It was a real pleasure to deconstruct it all, and have him emerge with no issue of any sort. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!
