  This item actually measures 3-5/8 inches long which is not a difficult fix if you have a lathe. You cut off the knurled end, drill and tap through and cut the threaded end to length needed. Use a 5/16-24 socket set screw 1/8" long in the end to lock in place. Other than that the part seems fine.
