Re manufactured parts for Jaguar cars, we try to keep them as authentic as possible. We do use the most appropriate rubber compound available and that is not the same as they were originally, things have moved on, but the parts look the same.
I sell 3 parts for the XK120 windscreen frame to body grommets, left right and centre, the parts book lists one number, BD3887.
In 1989 I was 27 years old, I got a job with a Frenchman, he was restoring cars in Oradea Romania, the workshop manager, Dan Radu, sent a bag of parts to the local rubber factory. When the finished repro parts came back the side grommets were handed, that was how the factory interpreted them.
To the frustration of Dan the centre pillar rubber was missing, he made a sketch and sent that to the factory, when the pad came back it fitted the pillar well, no pad was fitted to XK120 when it was new, apparently it had Bosstick under it and was trimmed when it dried. I do not work in Romania now.
