Strobe flashes eliminated the need for larger, more cumbersome equipment. Whether you use a digital SLR for professional shoots or a manual focus film camera for traditional photography, a flash can be a useful accessory.The Speedlight range represents flash photography taken to the next level, with flash accessories users can attach and detach as needed. This way your camera can be as compact as you need it to be for carrying it around and while setting it up in that perfect spot. Then, once you're ready, you can click the flash unit into place and use it as needed to illuminate your chosen subject.This external flash unit is part of Nikon's Speedlight range designed for exceptional photographic lighting. It provides through-the-lens (TTL) control of flash exposure with the FA, FE2, FG, Nikonos V, and other Nikon models with compatible hardware and lenses. TTL control lets the unit see the surrounding environment in real time as seen through the lens, in order to judge the optimal lighting conditions. The unit then adjusts the flash accordingly, in sync with what it sees. Specifically tailored for use with a variety of Nikon models, the SB-15 works with any type of Nikon camera for great flash results. That means it does not matter whether you have a film camera or digital camera. You can shoot with 35mm and your SLR or DSLR system, whatever your preferred medium. So long as your Nikon camera has the required shoe mount, this flash will work for you. This unit provides standard, automatic flash exposure on all compatible Nikon cameras.While setting up your shot, the Nikon SB-15 offers plenty of manual options to get the photo just right. The head rotates through 180 degrees, with click stops every 90 degrees, and tilts to 90 degrees, with click stops at 15, 30, 60, and 90 degrees. You can scale for distance, film speed, and angle of the shot. Once you have the unit in place, you can adjust the settings and mode as needed to get it just right. Then, when you take your shot, the SB-15 provides a bouncing flash with both horizontal and vertical bounce. The bounce reduces red eye and provides a more even, attractive image.The Nikon Speedlight SB-15 runs on battery power, using four AA batteries, which means you don't have to plug it in to use it. For extra ease of use, you can bring a couple sets of AA rechargeable batteries. At just 9.5 ounces and with dimensions of just 6 by 3 inches, this accessory is an easy, portable way to light subjects in any situation.
