You get more thumb-to-ball surface area with a recessed trackball and they are more comfortable for longer periods (no over extend thumb). The build quality is high-end with silent buttons and a sturdy scroll wheel - I just wish it was positioned between the left & right buttons. And had some additional buttons as well.
