I suspect that Huawei have changed it to add a virtual CDROM, in form of .iso file with drivers etc instead of supplying with physical CD. This means that as first presented, the dongle IDProductNo recognised udev in Linux is mass storage device. On a computer you can change the udev rules so that the network device is recognised, but on a router you can't, so it doesn't work with a router as was aim.
