Being one of prints chosen personally by GPL to be printed in Switzerland for a private club, the historical value is, to me, greater than its monetary value. The beautiful lighting of the nude male’s chest in the center of the photo draws the eye in to his physique as he reclines his head back on a chair obscuring his face. One leg is positioned to place his middle parts in shadows. Brilliant photo

The monetary value of this print is not high, nor was its price. But I wanted a good example of GPLs mythological series and this print was compelling in the way the model/dancer’s lean, muscular torso and upper legs are beautifully lit to highlight his form. He shares the photo with a tree whose blossoms cover his face as he smells their flowers.

The photo is better than as described since there is no way for me to visualize what a photo printed in the 1950s in Switzerland will actually look like. GPL chose the negative of this photo to send to Switzerland for a members only private club that was interested in nude male photos. He was finally able to find a place to distribute his nudes. That is his history; that is its value.
