Vol. 3 in this collection of Dr. Strange tales is written by Roy Thomas with art by various hands, chiefly Gene Colan. 1st up is a memorable recap of Doc's origin. He then fights Nightmare, Dormammu & Umar, The Sons of Satannish & Ymir/Surt. Reunites with Victoria Bentley & Clea (uh-oh!), teams up with Black Kight against Tiboro. R.T. in his introduction explains that Dr. Strange had taken over the numbering of Strange Tales, the book he shared first with the Human Torch and then Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD. So what would otherwise have been Dr. Strange #1 was instead Dr. Strange #169. I remember this era with great fondness, although I never warmed completely to the mask R.T. gave the Doc to make him more like a conventional super hero. Happily, the mask was soon discarded.
