Dolphin has you controlling the playful mammal as you navigate the ocean using its sonar. Listen for different pitched beeps to help you swim through vertical rows of sea horses, all while an enormous squid chases you. For example, if you hear a high-pitched beep, you'll need to swim near the surface to pass through safely. If you hear a low-pitched tone, you need to swim closer the ocean floor.<br><br>Hitting the wall of sea horses will deplete your energy and increase the odds that the squid will touch you -- if he does, you'll lose one life. All hope is not lost, however. You can turn the tables on the squid whenever you see a seagull flying above the ocean. Once you see the bird, climb to the surface and touch it; you'll then be able to temporarily chase the squid. Catch the squid to earn points and to continue on a more difficult level.<br><br>Swim over "good" waves (arrows pointing to the right) to speed ahead while avoiding "bad" waves (arrows pointing to the left) that slow you down. Hitting bad waves will also make it easier for the squid to catch up. Earn 20,000 points and you'll add a new dolphin to your reserves; score at least 80,000 points to become a "Friend of the Dolphins." Reach the mystery score and you'll even receive a special message. <br><br>Eight game variations alter the squid's speed and allow two players to alternate turns. Flip the difficulty switch to change how fast you need to catch the squid after touching the seagull: four seconds on the 'B' setting and two seconds on the 'A' setting.
