I got started with model trains with a gift of an American Flyer train set at my second Christmas. I can remember the set running around the tree and laying on the floor and watching the train run in a circle. Later on, the train platform got set up the Friday after Thanksgiving and remained set-up until February. Of course the track layout that came with the set had to be expanded to add crossover and switches, more rolling stock, engines. That's when I met Bill Ramsey, (Think he started the Gilbertsville PA train meet) who had a hobby business buying and selling trains. That was it.. I was smitten by the bug. I have been collecting, buying and selling ever since. However, not only American Flyer but Lionel as well. I like the stuff (anything older not limited to model trains) that were made in America by workers that had pride in what they did, no matter what the job, or what the product was. I want to preserve those items by caring for and passing them on to those who feel the same.
