It does work exactly as designed though. It is a great mat to insulate the body from cold or hot surfaces. It does SLIGHTLY fill with air. There is almost no difference between uninflated and inflated, however it does fill with air and seal. It is definitely used and unwashed. Mine had mold on both sides and smelled pretty bad of mold too. A 10 minute scrub with bleach worked fine

I've rarely bought from such a great seller; the shipping was very fast and the MRE's were exactly as described.
